West Asia

The West Asia region has already delivered its “Roadmap for Implementation of 10YFP in the Arab Region”. The document defines the milestones for the 10YFP implementation and sets the role and the synergies expected between the actors involved in the promotion of SCP in the Arab countries.

The region has an important background in the promotion and implementation of SCP initiatives. In 2009, the Arab Region developed its Regional Strategy on SCP, that was approved by the Council of Arab Ministers Responsible for the Environment (CAMRE) and endorsed by the the League of Arab States (LAS), the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (UN ESCWA) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP)

This strategy encourages the use of products and services that ensure environmental protection; conserve water and energy as well as other natural resources, while contributing to poverty eradication and sustainable lifestyles.
