UNEP-BPSP THEMATIC STUDIES
The Biodiversity Planning Support Programme (BPSP) is a Global Environment Facility (GEF) funded project, jointly implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). The overall objective of BPSP is to provide support to national biodiversity planners, specifically in relation to Article 6 General Measures of the Convention on Biological Diversity. For more details of the full BPSP project, vist: http://www.undp.org/bpsp/ One of UNEP's main tasks within the overall BPSP project has been to generate information to assist national biodiversity planners with sectoral integration of National Biodiversity Strategy and Actions Plans (NBSAPs) into the broader national development framework. In order to do this, UNEP has commissioned a series of thematic studies, each focussed on one aspect of sectoral integration. Integration of Biodiversity into the National Agriculture Sector Integration of Biodiversity into the National Fisheries Sector Integration of Biodiversity into the National Forestry Sector Integration of Biodiversity into the National Tourism Sector Integration of Biodiversity with Environmental Assessment Procedures Improved Use of Economic Tools in National Biodiversity Planning Improved Financial Planning for National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plans Each thematic study has produced some or all of the following: The materials from each of these thematic studies are still being developed and the final outputs will be made available at SBSTTA 7 in Montreal in November 2001 and CoP 6 at The Hague in April 2002. As material is finalised, it will also be added to the relevant links above. To see more details of each thematic study, click on the appropriate link above.
