Love Trees gives kids green power – the skills to change the world
It takes just one child and one tree to make the world a little greener and the future a little brighter. That’s the big idea behind Love Trees, a small business based on Bowen Island, British Columbia, Canada. Love Trees manages a powerful and unique educational tree planting program. The company strives to teach kids they have Green Power, the power to effect positive change and help make the world a better place.
Love Trees has boosted this Green Power even further by teaming up with the United Nations Environment Programme’s Plant for the Planet: Billion Tree Campaign. The global campaign has a target to plant seven billion trees by the end of 2009. In support of this goal, Love Trees has pledged to plant 5,000 trees by the end of 2009.
When someone purchases A Tree for Every Child Certificate for their friends, family or clients, Love Trees gives a Wish Tree to a child in Canada and the United States Each child takes their Wish Tree home to plant with their family and make a wish for the planet. It’s one of the best ways to teach kids and their families about the environment.
Love Trees also manages a tree planting certificate program that donates fruit trees to children to plant at underprivileged schools in Kenya. This program helps educate young people, grow self-sufficiency and preserve the environment.
“Through these two programs Love Trees is helping to plant the seeds of ecological conscience for the next generation,” said Andrea Koehle Jones, executive director of Love Trees. “ Partnering with the Plant for the Planet Campaign is a natural and important step for Love Trees.”
