HRH Prince of Wales Plants 1000th tree in Brunei

HRH Prince of Wales planted the 1000th tree in support of International School Brunei’s Million Trees Project  on 31st October 2008. He was accompanied by Brunei’s Crown Prince Billah who planted the 1001st tree in the Badas Forest Reserve, an area designated within the Heart of Borneo area.

Professor Wangari Maathai, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate launched International School Brunei’s Million Trees Project in March 2006 and since that time the school has funded or planted nearly 10,000 trees across Borneo.

Prince CharlesThe school raises funds for the project through re-cycling and other fund raising campaigns and actively involves its students in the planting and awareness raising activities as part of its environmental programme. ISB has developed and very strong ‘eco ethos’ and has a very proactive outreach programme involving local schools and other enterprises in the Million Trees Project.

Executive Principal David Taylor maintains that the environmental initiatives go along way to supporting the school’s  well established IB Diploma CAS programme and developing global citizenship.
ISB is always interested in hearing from donors willing to support Million Trees as well as projects looking for support.
