Clean Up the World Weekend, 16-18 September 2011
Now celebrating its 19th year, Clean Up the World is one of the largest community-based environmental campaigns in the world. Held in conjunction with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), an estimated 35 million volunteers from more than 130 countries are now taking part annually.
Clean Up the World is a not-for-profit, non government, apolitical organisation that unites communities through a common focus: to address local environmental issues by inviting organisations to become members, assist them carry out their plans and activities and work with them to inspire volunteers to join them.
Our 2011 campaign theme - Our Place… Our Planet… Our Responsibility - highlights how local action – taken by every community and volunteer partaking in a Clean Up the World activity – has a global impact..
International Year of Forests
2011 is the UN International Year of Forests. Clean Up the World invites communities around the globe to consider the role that forests play in the health and well being of our planet and its people and to act locally to protect and promote them.
