The Scout Movement

The Scout Movement is the largest youth organization with a membership of over 30 million youths aged 6 to 30 years and is present in over 215 countries and territories. The Scout Movement involves scouts mainly undertaking outdoor activities, which therefore exposes and closely links them to nature. The Scout Movement world wide undertake clean-ups and tree planting campaigns, engage in reforestation and soil conservation activities and develop and use energy saving devices.

In February 2003, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) adopted a long-term strategy for engaging and involving children and youth in its work. With this vision of developing partnerships with international and regional organizations dealing with young people, the Memorandum of Understanding with the World Organization of the Scout Movement was signed on July 7th 2004.
