UN sustainability campaign wins best website award
London, 27 September 2010 Greening the Blue - the website covering all issues relating to the United Nations's sustainability performance - has won an international award for 'Best Website'.
IVCA - the International Visual Communications Association - exists "to promote effective business and public service communications of the highest ethical and professional standards". Their Clarion Award Scheme was established in 2003 to support social inclusion, CSR, sustainable development and ethical debate. Greening the Blue won the award for Best Website in the Public Sector Category.
Marco Forgione, Chief Executive of IVCA, commented:
"To qualify as a finalist is excellent, to win is a tremendous achievement. Congratulations to all of those who were shortlisted and of course many congratulations to Greening the Blue for their excellent and much deserved winning entry."
Niclas Svenningsen, Head of the Sustainable United Nations team at the UN said:
"We are delighted that Greening the Blue has been recognised in this way. One of our objectives in making the UN more sustainable was to lead by example, and this award is evidence that we're doing exactly that".
Imogen Martineau, the consultant behind the website, said:
"Delivering communications for the UN on sustainability is the sort of job I always dreamed of doing. It's been a real adventure getting it off the ground, and I'm overjoyed that the IVCA has recognised the efforts of the whole team with this award."
The website was developed for the United Nations by Martineau and Co and Enable Interactive.
