D - Environmental considerations in the review and appraisal of the International Development Strategy for the Third united Nations Development Decade

23. By section 11 of its decision 12/2 of 28 May 1984, the Governing council noted the review of the implementation of the environmental aspects of the International Development Strategy for the Third United Nations Development Decade in the report prepared under the aegis of the Administrative Committee on Co-ordination 5/ and reiterated the importance it attached to environmental considerations for the successful implementation of the Strategy. It invited the Committee on the Review and Appraisal of the Implementation of the International Development Strategy for the Third United Nations Development Decade to take fully into account the need to stress those considerations, particularly in any adjustment of the policy measures for the remaining period of the Decade, and authorized the Executive Director to transmit to the Committee on behalf of the Council the report prepared under aegis of the Administrative Committee on Co-ordination together with the comments of the Council thereon reflected in the proceedings of the twelfth session (UNEP/GC.12/19, chap. iv, paras. 11-15) .
