Evaluations within the United Nations system are designed “to determine as systematically and objectively as possible the relevance, efficiency, effectiveness and impact of the organization’s activities in relation to their objectives.”


The Evaluation Policy presents the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Evaluation policy and the strategy for its implementation. It explains the objectives, roles and functions of evaluation within UNEP, defines the institutional framework within which it operates and outlines the general processes by which it is operationalized.


The Evaluation Synthesis Report provides analysis of information synthesized from 38 in-depth project evaluations; the DTIE subprogramme evaluation, one management study on the quality of project supervision, one partnership evaluation and two special studies conducted by the Evaluation Office in 2008-9 and outlines UNEP’s approach to evaluating the 2010-11 PoW

Lessons Learned: In order to enhance the quality of lessons, improve their utilisation, and to aid their dissemination and communication to both internal and external audiences, EOU decided to develop a Framework of Lessons from Evaluation.
