IEA Training Manual - Module 7 - Exercises

This exercise originates from section:

Exercise 7.3.1

Budgeting needs and skills

This exercise builds on the exercise on establishing the main budget lines. The exercise is not limited to planning printed formats, but can be used when planning communications in any format.

The participants break into groups of about five. The exercise lasts for 30 minutes. The production phase requires people with different skills. This is an exercise in mapping needs and skills for preparing printed or electronic reports. Participants should discuss expertise, skills and services they need for preparing their communication outputs. The leading question for the discussion is: What expertise, skills and services do you needs to succeed with your project? Make a budget and time plan based on:

  1. Who will be involved in the project (inside and outside expertise)?
  2. What are direct expenses (e.g., meetings, communication, printing, transport)
  3. How much it cost?
  4. What is the time frame of the different steps?

doesnt surprise me. I am going to try pllniug back the grunge some, the type just seemed a little in contrast with the oldness of the images at first, so I was trying to bring them closer that way, but I agree it got a little much.Same with color choice. I am happy with the first, the rest now seem a bit loud. I think I will restrain the palette more, use muted colors more in line with the first one. I think this may help bridge the image type gap (aesthetically speaking) as well.I was very close to mixing up the fonts more, but I was aiming to draw a line of consistency through them. I think Futura works for the 1st, as the word bold itself is there, and the massiveness of the text seems to threaten/challenge the ax guy. These were all really helpful points. My resulting question is, do you think the concept and style of the images are enough to make them cohesive, or does that need reenforcement by some other means? The challenge is getting them to look like they belong together, yet interesting on their own. This little exercise was started on a whim, but now im thinking, with the right refinement, and the right application, I could turn it into a decent little project. Again, thanks for the feedback.
