Way Forward

The Johannesburg Principles were presented to the Secretary General of the United Nations by the Chief Justice of South Africa as a contribution from the Global Judges Symposium to the WSSD.

UNEP is preparing a Plan of Work for the Implementation of the Johannesburg Principles on the Role of Law and Sustainable Development. The Plan of Work is being designed as a follow-up Implementation Project, and will involve several activities including training of the Judiciary at national level on issues pertaining to Sustainable Development, in partnership with several partners and in close cooperation with national institutions.
