2nd Ad-hoc Legal and Technical Working Group Meeting on ICZM Protocol to the Nairobi Convention

The Indian Ocean Commission (COI) ‐ Regional Programme for the Sustainable Management of the Coastal Zones of the Countries of the Indian Ocean (ReCoMaP), the Nairobi Convention Secretariat, and the Government of the Republic of Kenya, organized the 2nd Ad hoc Legal and Technical Working Group meeting on the Protocol concerning Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM).

The meeting was held on 6 and 7 of December, 2010 in Mombasa, Kenya.

The objective of this meeting was to review the proposed draft of the ICZM Protocol developed, after the 1st Ad‐hoc Legal and Technical Working Group meeting held on 27 and 28 September 2010, in Balaclava, Mauritius.

The meeting participants were drawn from the Nairobi Convention countries which are; Comoros, France, Kenya, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mozambique, Seychelles, Somalia, Tanzania and the Republic of South Africa.

Each government nominated two experts, a legal expert and a technical expert who participated in the drafting process of the ICZM Protocol.
