Third Ad-hoc Legal and Technical Working Group Meeting on ICZM Protocol to the Nairobi Convention

The Indian Ocean Commission (COI) ‐ Regional Programme for the Sustainable Management of the Coastal Zones of the Countries of the Indian Ocean (ReCoMaP), and the Nairobi Convention Secretariat organized the Third Ad hoc Legal and Technical Working Group meeting on the Protocol concerning Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM).

The meeting was held from 14-16 February 2011 at Berjaya Hotel, Seychelles.

The objective of this 3rd LTWG Meeting was to review the Second Version of the 1st Draft of the ICZM Protocol developed after taking into consideration the inputs from the 2nd LTWG Meeting that was held on the 6-7 December, 2010 in Mombasa, Kenya.

The meeting participants were drawn from the Contracting Parties to the Nairobi Convention namely; Comoros, France, Kenya, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mozambique, Seychelles, Somalia, Tanzania and the Republic of South Africa.

Each government had nominated two experts; a legal expert and a technical expert who participated in the drafting process of the ICZM Protocol.
