One first prize of the NEW UNEP World Conservation Monitoring Centre’s World Atlas of Coral Reefs, donated by the University of California Press and UNEP-WCMC. Three runners up will each receive a copy of Earth and Faith published by UNEP.

| The winner and runners up will be chosen by a panel consisting of UNEP’s Executive Director, its Director of Information, and the Editor of Our Planet from the entries received. The decision of the judges is final. This competition is closed to all those working for UNEP, UNEP-WCMC, Banson, KPC Group, SMI, University of California Press, and all other companies and organizations associated with the production of Our Planet magazine and their families.
