Integrated Water Management
The use of freshwater inland has a significant impact on the quality of coastal and oceans waters. UNEP is involved in addressing the freshwater- coastal linkages through the following activities:
	FreshCo. The overall objective of the UNEP supported FreshCo partnership is to promote more efficient methods for management of fresh, coastal and marine water resources, including protection of the productivity and biodiversity of aquatic ecosystems.
	GPA The UNEP Global Programme of Action for the Protection of the Marine Environment from Land-Based Activities (GPA) is the only intergovernmental programme that addresses the inter-linkages between freshwater and the coastal environment.
	Regional Seas The UNEP Regional Seas Programme aims to address the accelerating degradation of the world’s oceans and coastal areas through the sustainable management and use of the marine and coastal environment, by engaging neighbouring countries in comprehensive and specific actions to protect their shared marineenvironment.
	SIDS - Small Island Developing States This website is an information gateway to UNEP's assistance in SIDS. The core of the website is a database that shows UNEP's most relevant activities in SIDS in the last ten years, as well as ongoing and future activities.The site also includes decisions that have been adopted in the context of UNEP's Governing Bodies, information on the International Meeting to Review the Implementation of the Barbados Programme of Action for the Sustainable Development of SIDS, links to other relevant SIDS sites, and UNEP reports and publications that pertain to SIDS.
