Adaptation
Climate Proofing Economies

Climate change is already happening and societies and economies must adapt by reducing vulnerability and building resilience into development activities. Climate proofing requires new ways of thinking about and planning for development through improved science, ecosystem management and development policies.

Finance
Investing in a Low Carbon Transition

Lack of awareness, ill-conceived subsidies, and the unavailability or high cost of finance are all obstacles to moving to a low carbon economy. UNEP works with a variety of partners – from government donors and the largest investment and insurance companies, to local communities – to promote climate-friendly investment and affordable energy solutions.

Mitigation
Transition to a Low Carbon Society

The bottom line for addressing climate change is mitigating its future impact by reducing greenhouse gas emissions. UNEP supports global mitigation efforts by facilitating a transition towards low carbon societies through promoting more efficient energy generation, energy conservation and using cleaner energy sources, especially renewable energy.

Technology
Powering a Low Carbon World

New technologies and policies will provide the foundation for a low carbon economy. UNEP’s strategy emphasizes the importance of not only identifying the best solutions, in partnership with the private sector, but ensuring that they are made as widely available and affordable as possible.

E- Book
Climate Action
The 300-page publication - the first of a series of annual reference books - will encourage and assist governments and businesses to lower their greenhouse emissions, while also informing them about how they can adapt to the impacts of climate change.
