Selection Process

Winners were selected through a fair and impartial process by a panel of judges appointed by the organizers. The competition had two selection processes:

Regional Selection Process
Selection was done by the relevant UNEP Regional Office and its partners. Each region submited at least 100 paintings to the global competition.

Global Selection Process
Selection was done by a panel of judges from the Foundation for Global Peace and Environment, UNEP, Bayer AG and Nikon Corporation.

Announcement
Prize winners for the regional competitions were announced in April 2006. Prize winners for the global competition were announced on World Environment Day 5 June 2006 The certificates and/or plaques as well as supplementary prizes were sent to the winner, or his/her school or organization.
