Countdown to the billion mark - Three quarters planted by midday on 20th November

The Billion Tree Campaign hit the three quarter planted target at midday on 20th November.

With the Ministry of Environment and Forestry of Turkey having confirmed officially that, this year, 150 million trees were planted under the umbrella of the Billion Tree Campaign, the counter reflects 783 million planted trees.

In the IPCC Fourth Assessment Report issued in Valencia on 17 November 2007, one of the recommended key climate change mitigation technologies covers the areas of afforestation, reforestation and forest management.

We express our deep appreciation to all the Billion Tree Campaign participants in all spheres of society around the world and call for sustained tree-planting action over the next few weeks.
