Cycle Generation - Feel Africa! Cycling Tour: A campaign to combat climate change
During their year long trip (2008/2009), Ragna and Amiran aim to highlight climate change challenges and showcase achievable and innovative local solutions in: Ecology (Afforestation projects); Energy (Renewable Energy - Solar Wind and Small Hydro Power) and Mobility (Cycling and public transport). In support of the Billion Tree Campaign, they plan to plant a minimum of 10 trees in each of the 12 countries that they will visit - Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania, Malawi, Madagascar, South Africa, Lesotho, Namibia, Botswana, and Zimbabwe). They chose to undertake the campaign tour in Africa because they believe that African countries will not only be the hardest hit by climate change but also that African states are least prepared, especially financially, to deal with the During the tour, they will visit schools to collect messages about the dangers of climate change which they will send to global leaders at the G8 summit in Japan. |
