Gisele Bündchen supports the Billion Tree Campaign in her blog

Brazilian top model Gisele Bündchen is showing her support for the Billion Tree Campaign in her latest blog entry.

The post, dated 30 June, mentions UNEP’s goal of planting 7 billion trees by the end of 2009 and encourages people to learn more and participate by clicking live links to our BTC website. “The campaign strongly encourages the planting of indigenous trees and trees that are appropriate to the local environment,” the entry notes.

Gisele Bündchen’s blog, http://giselebundchenblog.blogspot.com/, was launched in April 2008 with the aim of “reflecting on socio-environmental issues we can do something about”.
The top model is actively involved in a number of environmental and social causes in Brazil and beyond. She donates a percentage of profits from her ‘Ipanema’ line of sandals to protect Amazon Rainforest water sources and supports several other Brazilian projects.
In May this year, she co-chaired the Rainforest Alliance Gala in New York City, and she has also worked with WWF, the American Express HIV/AIDSc campaign and the Fashion Targets Breast Cancer initiative, among others.
