It takes just one child and one tree to make the world a little greener and the future a little brighter. That’s the big idea behind Love Trees, a small business based on Bowen Island, British Columbia, Canada. Love Trees manages a powerful and unique educational tree planting program. The company strives to teach kids they have Green Power, the power to effect positive change and help make the world a better place.
Love Trees has boosted this Green Power by teaming up with the United Nations Environment Programme’s Plant for the Planet: Billion Tree Campaign. The global campaign has a target to plant seven billion trees by the end of 2009. In support of this goal, Love Trees has planted 5,104 in 2009 exceeding the organization’s promise to plant 5,000 trees this year.
When someone purchases A Wish Tree Certificate for their friends, family or clients, Love Trees gives a Wish Tree to a child in North America or Africa.
These programs help educate young people, grow self-sufficiency and preserve the environment . “Through these programs Love Trees is helping to plant the seeds of ecological conscience for the next generation,” said Andrea Koehle Jones, executive director of Love Trees. “ We are honored to partner with the Plant for the Planet Campaign – it’s a natural and important step for Love Trees.”
Children take their Wish Tree home to plant with their family and make a wish for the planet. It’s one of the best ways to teach kids and their families about the environment. Koehle Jones will take these wishes with her when she attends the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen.
