Integration of Biodiversity into National Agricultural Sectors

National Experiences with Integrating Biodiversity into the Agricultural Sector: 6 Regional Case Studies

The 6 regional case studies listed below were prepared for the Thematic Workshop on Managing Agricultural Resources for Biodiversity Conservation, funded by the GEF (through UNEP) and ICIPE and held in Nairobi, Kenya, in July 2001

Each case study investigates the extent to which biodiversity considerations have been incorporated (or not) in the agricultural policies and plans sector of a set of countries or (in one case) a province within a country. The case studies thus provide important practical experience from which other biodiversity planners, facing the same challenges, can learn.

The case studies are listed alphabetically by author. Clicking on most of the links below will open up an Adobe Acrobat Reader file which can be read on-screen or printed. In the case of the first two case studies, with considerable data in tables and formats shifting from vertical to horizontal, the studies are provided in Word format.
