Consultation on Enhancing Major Groups Participation at UNEP’s Governance Level

First Round of Consultation

The basis for the present consultation is the document “Guidelines for Enhancing Major Groups Participation at UNEP’s Governance Level” prepared and reviewed by prominent representatives of Civil Society Organizations. The document seeks to provide the Executive Director of UNEP with recommendations on how to enhance major groups’ participation at UNEP’s governance level.

After a global electronic consultation and discussion at the UNEP Regional Consultative Meetings of October and November 2007, the document will be discussed and adopted during the next UNEP Global Civil Society Forum to be held in February 2008.

To be part of the electronic consultation, we are kindly asking you to register the profile of your organization in the Online Major Groups’ Directory.

You can then address your comments and amendments to Olivier Deleuze, Chief, Major Groups and Stakeholders Branch, UNEP by sending an email entitled “consultation” to civil.society@unep.org by 15th of August 2007. When doing so, in order to help the drafters to take your comments into account, we kindly ask:

to identify your organization
to refer to specific paragraph references
to give, as much as possible, arguments on suggested changes, additions or deletions
