Interventions from Civil Society Forum at the Ninth special session of the Governing Council of UNEP and the Global Ministerial Environment Forum (GC/GMEF)

70 civil society organizations were present in Dubai during the Ninth special session of the Governing Council of UNEP / Global Ministerial Environment Forum (GC/GMEF).

Civil society organizations have indeed the opportunity:

  1. To make oral statements during the discussions of the Governing Council/Global Ministerial Environment Forum at the invitation of the chairperson;
  2. To circulate written statements to Governments through the UNEP secretariat;
  3. To attend the plenary, the Committee of the Whole and the Ministerial Consultations discussions as observers.

Statements on tourism and energy were made by NGOs, youth representatives and trade unions during the ministerial consultations:

Representatives of the Global Civil Society Forum also made a statement during the Committee of the Whole:

A resolution regarding chemicals management was submitted to the International Conference on Chemicals Management

The Seventh Global Civil Forum also made a statement on the outcomes of the Trade Union Assembly on Labour and the Environment (WILL 2006), held in January 2006 in Nairobi.
