Fourth Annual Meeting of the NGO/CSO Focal Points of United Nations and International and Regional Intergovernmental Organization

UNEP is co-hosting with UN - Habitat and UNDP, the Fourth Annual Meeting of the NGO/CSO Focal Points of United Nations and International and Regional Intergovernmental Organizations, on the 5th and 6th of June 2006, at the United Nations Office at Nairobi, Kenya.

The meeting, generally convened by the United Nations Non-governmental Organizations Liaison Service (NGLS), is a unique opportunity for NGO/CSO Focal Points of UN and other international and regional intergovernmental organizations to share their experiences on working with NGOs/CSOs. This year’s session, the first ever held in Africa, will focus on the Role of CSOs in Africa today and on the role of MDGs and PRSPs in support of Africa’s development. Several guests from civil society are expected to attend.

NGLS is unique in the UN system - it is the central coordinating body to obtain inputs from civil society to the General Assembly, and provides a platform within the UN and the broader family of international organizations on sustainable development issues.
