Presented by the UN Alliance on Climate Change Education, Training and Public Awareness, this side event on addressing climate change through education and training, a joint panel represented by fourteen different organizations, highlighted the importance of education and training, and the key role young people are playing in advancing knowledge on mitigating and adapting to climate change.

Speakers were united in calling for collaboration among the different organizations to urge societies toward adopting sustainable lifestyles, and stressed the need to empower, support, raise awareness and enable the youth to become active agents of change. All agreed that education system changes should become a UN focus in bringing about the type of change needed globally.

As governments gather at the COP19 conference in Warsaw to discuss international efforts on climate change, a new photo exhibit created by UNEP in partnership with Magnum Photos agency ( We have the power: Efficient, Renewable, Affordable, continues to warn that climate change puts us all at risk, with the poor being the first and worst affected. But sustainable energy can make the 2°C climate goal a reality.  

Sustainable Energy for All by 2030 is an enormous challenge yet a tremendous opportunity. Energy choices made today will determine the energy future over the next decades.
