Global Environment Facility

UNEP assists governments and local communities of developing countries in particular Least Developing Countries (LDCs) and Small Island Developing States (SIDS) building resilience of vulnerable ecosystems and economies through adaptation actions and ensuring that adaptation measures are environmentally sound and sustainable. As an implementing agency of the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and Multilateral Implementing Entity of the Adaptation Fund, UNEP supports LDCs to develop and implement adaptation projects by facilitating their access to UNFCCC climate change adaptation finance. UNEP has already supported a number of LDCs, SIDS and other developing countries, access GEF-managed LDCF and SCCF funds as well as the Adaptation Fund resources to implement concrete adaptation measures in order to reduce their vulnerability to the adverse effects of climate change. readmore>>
