 STRATEGIES FOR SUCCESS

DEUTSCHE POST DHL

Deutsche Post DHL is one of the world’s largest private transportation networks consisting of large fleets of vehicles and aircraft, and operations facilities in over 220 countries and territories. They acknowledge that while they are facilitating trade, their global operations also have a considerable impact on the environment. As such, they accept their responsibility to improve their ways.

In 2008 Deutsche Post DHL launched their climate protection program - GoGreen - to respond to climate change and by doing so, became the first major company in their industry to set quantifiable climate protection targets. The GoGreen Program’s main goal is to improve their CO2 efficiency which is a core element of the Group’s environmental strategy.

Their target is to improve their CO2 efficiency across all of their operations, including subcontracted transportation services, by 30 per cent by 2020. They have already entered into discussion with their subcontractors and have taken their first steps toward achieving their 2012 milestone of a 10 per cent CO2 efficiency improvement in their own operation.

 Quote of the week
"Colleges and universities are arguably the most important institutions to address climate disruption because they can model climate neutrality on their campuses, and they can teach their students the skills and knowledge they need to address the climate crisis"
