Green Standard Certification Program [ About] [Strategy] [Photo Gallery]

‘demonstrating an organization’s ability to deliver green products and services and supporting sustainable business development’

About

Green Standard GSCP-01-2010 is developed by Green Standard Certification Program (GSCP) Committee to enable organizations to develop and implement a Green approach towards sustainable business practices for a safe, healthy and green environment, and the delivery of green products & services. GSCP is a global certification program initiated by United Academy of Businesses UK. The certificates are categorized into three levels – Level I, II and III, which is subjected to the successful assessment conducted by the GSCP Committee.

Following Green Standard, green certified organizations are able to demonstrate:

  • Potential carbon neutrality: Voluntary disclosure of carbon footprints quantified and reported on levels of green certificate assessed following ISO 14064-3-Greenhouse Gases Assessment Standard.
  • Regulatory compliances: As a minimum requirement of the Green Standard, organizations must comply with regulatory and other requirements in order to ensure the protection of the environment from air, water and land pollution.
  • Management system: Green certification requires a management system, which includes green policies and objectives.  The requirements are assessed following international standards for management systems.
  • Occupational health & safety concerns: Green Standard requirements require a safe and healthy work environment throughout the organization. This encourages observing environmentally conscious practices at all locations of organization.
  • Social accountability code at workplace: Social accountability in Green Standard, manages business activities in a manner that respects and promotes the basic human rights of all workers.
  • Internal green process control: The Organization shall ensure that all the manufacturing and/or the service delivery process(s) are free from toxic or harmful elements.
  • Use of recyclable material: Green Standard promotes use of recyclable, reusable or biodegradable material in the product.
  • Efficient product characteristics: Products following Green Standard exhibit green and sustainable properties and ensure energy efficiency, and resource optimization.
  • Resource optimization: Efficient layout of processes is a significant characteristic of green organizations, which leads to the optimized use of resources.

Strategy

Mitigating GHG Emissions by following Green Approaches

The green certificate aims to achieve an understanding of the concept of GHG emission mitigation. The understanding would ensure the realization of ability of the organization to demonstrate the commitment towards environmental protection by achieving reduction in their Green House Gas (GHG) emissions.

Green Standard Certification Program (GSCP) encourages organizations to reduce their energy consumption, use renewable energy and convert their waste into energy. There are various green approaches to reduce the greenhouse gas emission resulting from burning of fossil fuels or any other anthropogenic activity. The projects involving process switchover, fuel switch, device switchover, use of renewable energy, and waste management to mitigate GHG emissions are considered as Green Projects in Green Standard GSCP-01-2010.

Organizations willing to achieve green certificate commit to implement a program that will contribute towards a reduction of its GHG emissions by:

  1. Energy Saving & Efficiency,
  2. Use of Renewable Energy,
  3. Waste Management.

Assessment of Emission Reduction Occurred due to Green Approaches

The control of emission that exceeds the baseline requirement shall enable the organization to demonstrate it’s exceeding ability towards a ‘Green Approach’. Emission reductions occurred due to green projects are assessed following ISO 14064-3.
