About
Access2 Carbon Markets, Lda. is a Lisbon-based, international company offering a range of carbon market services spanning both the voluntary and regulated carbon markets.
Operating in the global carbon market, Access2 Carbon Markets, Lda. aims to maximize the potential offered by the global carbon markets and achieve set goals for clients or together with partners. We can deliver services all the way through the project cycle:
- Carbon advisory: we provide bespoke, world-class advisory services on carbon strategy;
- Identification of opportunities: we can scan clients´ project or investment portfolios to identify potential carbon assets;
- Carbon asset development: we source, develop, monitor and manage emission reducing projects to create carbon credits (CER - Certified Emission Reductions, or VER -Verified Emission Reductions) – including methodologies, documentation and organizing third party validation and verification;
- Transaction specialists: we can help find the best deal for sale of carbon credits. We identify, contract and/or broker high-quality emissions reductions (CERs and VERs) for large buyers;
- Agents or suppliers for private carbon funds as well as sovereign compliance funds. Access2 Carbon Markets, Lda. also develops and acquires high-quality VERs for its own offering of services in voluntary carbon management (offsets), through the brand e)mission.
- Carbon legal advisory: our expert partners in environmental and carbon law have assisted in setting up private and compliance carbon funds, and can assist in an array of legal support services under the carbon market.

Strategy
We
- have our own internal policy which we implement to reduce our carbon footprint, and
- it is our core business to assist organizations – from the smallest NGOs to the largest corporations in this country by market capitalization reduce their own emissions voluntarily by working with key departments on viable
mitigation strategies, then offsetting the rest through our portfolio of carbon redits.
With regard to our own internal strategy for climate neutrality,we are committed to:
- Low Carbon Mobility: our office has been located in the city centre, following an appraisal of staff mobility needs. 100% of our staff commute to work and back on foot or in mass public transport systems; the vast majority of trips for meetings with clients and partners can be done using public transport. The office has been located in an area with abundant support services (copy centre, IT equipment and accessories, major post hub, restaurants, etc), such that procurement services can be sourced locally. Fully furbished kitchen permits staff to bring food from home, if they so wish, rather than travel out.
- Efficient energy use: The office is in a Pombaline-era (post 1755 earthquake) building, but has been entirely refurbished. Illumination is provided 100% by CFL technology. 100% of windows are doubled glazed. A purchasing policy is in force in which energy efficiency indicators are taken into consideration when selecting printers, computers, monitors, etc. An energy efficient behavior policy is in place, with simple steps: equipment turned on when not in use, and at end of day (all, except unavoidable: faxes, server if necessary, kitchen refrigerator…)
- Material / resource use and recycling:
All paper products printed in association with the e)mission brand are Elemental Chlorine Free, Forestry Stewardship Council approved paper. Office paper for internal printing is either from recycled pulp, or paper from suppliers certified under ISO14001. A comprehensive reuse recycle policy is in place: double sided printing is standard, and where possible, used paper is used for other purposes (eg. scrap books). The office has its own small recycling station, for paper and card, bottles and glass, and other containers. We also recycle batteries. There is a full municipal recycling station within 50metres of the office.
- Offsetting for carbon neutrality: Access2 Carbon Markets, Lda., as a company promoting carbon offsets and neutrality, naturally leads by example. We offset 100% of unavoidable emissions through our emissions reduction portfolio, and as such are “e)mission neutral certified”.
