Strategy

The Atea Group declared in April 2008 that we will increase focus on corporate responsibility and take an even more active role to promote and support implementation of Green IT concepts in own organizations and customers’ organizations.

As a responsible service provider we believe that we need to set high standards for our own environmental business conduct.

It is our target to reduce our CO2-footprint with 25 percent per employee from 2007 – 2015.

Our CO2 footprint reports show that our CO2 emissions primarily come from

  • Cars and driving
  • Air travel
  • Electricity and heating
  • Waste
The original analysis in 2007 of the Atea group’s CO2 emission shows that the potential for economic savings is mostly related to car driving and air travel. The estimated cost of these two activities, including the cost of lost income due to employees travels constitute about 323 mill NOK annually.

The total number of hours spent on traveling was in 2007 calculated to be equivalent to about 478 922 working hours, or 281 full time employees. The cost saving potential is therefore substantial replacing physical travel by using more video conferences.

Focus Areas

By thinking green in all our operations, we will cut down on our impact on the climate and at the same time save cost. The individual companies in the Atea Group are responsible for implementing the focus areas with the largest impact.

Please see www.atea.com/greenit for CO2 footprint reports.
