About
Brandlab is a brand think tank, design studio and marketing communications agency located in
Oslo, Norway. The company was established in January 2005, and the office is located I Oslo, Norway. As of October 2008, Brandlab has around 40 clients.
We assist our clients in solving their business challenges, as well as innovating and seeking out new business opportunities through brand development.
Our clients are generally in a position where they are looking to drastically improve their existing position, or are newcomers in the marketplace. We work closely with our clients, most often as an extension to their own teams, and assist both local Norwegian and international clients. We assist
them in developing brands that are connected to today’s environmentally conscious reality, and advice them on how they can communicate this both internally and externally.
In our pursuit to achieve carbon neutrality for our own company, we have implemented several procedures. We are doing what we can to protect the environment, and are proactively working with our suppliers, vendors and clients in influencing them to do the same.

Strategy
Even though we are a rather small, non production oriented company — we still can make a difference. We did a complete review of our own CO2 emissions in spring of 2007, and shortly thereafter, we achieved complete carbon neutrality, which we still sustain. The total carbon footprint for BrandLab in 2007 was 15, 1 tons CO2.In order to reduce our energy consumption, Brandlab gained insightful advice from the climate management service company CO2focus. They assisted us in developing the necessary steps in order to reach carbon neutrality, and informed and raised awareness on the environment among the company´s employees
These are our main actions:
- Use public transport when possible
- Utilizing bike messengers instead of messenger services using cars
- Minimize the number of air flights and company travels by working digitally
- Rent property instead of buying
- Turn off lights and electrical equipment when not in use after office hours
- Recycling of separate waste
- Print and distribute paper only when strictly necessary
- Raise environmental awareness among our employees, clients, vendors and suppliers
- Select environmentally committed suppliers and vendors
- Encouraging the use of public transport — We offer all visiting clients as well as our own employees (in relation with client visits)free tram tickets
For Brandlab to reach carbon neutrality, we offset greenhouse gases emitted from our activities by reducing an equivalent amount of emissions someplace else. This year, 2008, Brandlab is involved in a biomass based power project in Rajasthan, India.
Besides constantly improving our own climate commitment, our main focus is to identify and work with vendors and suppliers that themselves are environmentally engaged. Over the past years, a noticeable larger amount of companies are taking the climate challenges seriously - every day we find it easer and easier to choose environmentally committed partners.
