About

CO2OL is a consulting and service provider for corporate climate protection specialised in carbon neutral events, meetings, hotels and companies. CO2OL has offered coherent concepts as well as concrete solutions and products for an effective realisation of climate protection strategies since 1998.

CO2OL is Europe’s market leader in consulting and supervising green events or green meetings. It has helped in realising more than 500 carbon neutral events and selling more than a million tickets for carbon neutral concerts. Among their clients are, amongst others, the European Association of Event Centres (EVVC), the German Convention Bureau (GCB), the World Conference Center Bonn, the UN and their IHDP department, Marriott Europe, Viabono-Hotels, IAAF World Championship of Athletics in Berlin 2009, numerous event agencies and many popular artists such as Die Ärzte, Cassandra Steen, Juli, Kim Wilde, among others.

CO2OL offers individual consulting as well as practical solutions for: GreenCongress (event locations), GreenMeetings (business events and conferences), GreenEvents (sports events, concerts, festivals), GreenHotels (hotels, tourism destinations) as well as GreenMobility (including logistics, shipping). Furthermore, CO2OL is an initiator and partner of the competence network mygreenmeeting.de.

Services:

  • Development and realisation of credible climate protection strategies.
  • Determination of validated carbon footprints / CO2 balances for corporations, events, hotels, event locations and logistics.
  • Consulting service for the reduction of CO2 emissions.
  • CO2OL GreenMobility Plattform - an online based tool for the reduction of CO2 emissions caused by the mobility of participants of big events, corporations, event locations.
  • Development of CO2-tools designed for carbon footprinting (CO2-calculator) and reduction (CO2OL GreenMobility Plattform).
  • Sale of high quality and verified carbon credits from climate protection projects (self-projected reforestation projects and renewable energy projects). Standards: CCBS, CarbonFix Standard or GoldStandard.
  • Support in communication like PR, online and offline information material.

CO2OL is a brand of the ForestFinance Group, represented in Germany by the Forest Finance Service GmbH in Bonn. For more details and information, contact Mrs. Mira Nürnberg.

CO2OL Carbon Consult:

CO2OL has more than twelve years of experience in the development of high quality AR projects. Among these projects is the first CCBS Gold Rating validated project worldwide. The project CO2OL Tropical Mix in Panama combines the standards CCBS, FSC and CarbonFix and will follow the WWF’s advice as given in the Green Carbon Guidebook.

CO2OL is experienced in Latin America as well as in South East Asia. CO2OL is able to help project owners in these regions to successfully develop their carbon projects.

Forests improve biodiversity and the soil, raise the groundwater level and bind dangerous fine particulates and the greenhouse gas carbon dioxide. With the help of aerial imagery and scientifically sound calculations, the carbon-reduction-capacity of the reforestation will be determined. Subsequent on-site measurements regularly verify the bound amount of carbon. After the certification by an independent organisation (for example, Smartwood, SGS or TÜV Süd), the generated carbon credits are put up for sale on the voluntary market and, if requested, are marketed by CO2OL. For anyone interested in generating their own carbon credits from their forests, they can always get in touch with CO2OL Carbon Consult.

If you are interested in generating your own carbon credits from your forest do not hesitate to get in contact with CO2OL Carbon Consult. For more information please contact Mr. Andreas Schnall.

Strategy

CO2OL Reforestation Projects:

CO2OL neutralises accumulated CO2 from the atmosphere by sustainable reforestation of tropical mixed forest. And there is a reason for that. The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), in its GreenCarbon Guidebook from the 27th of May 2008, emphasised: “Forests have a vital role to play in the fight against global warming, as the largest terrestrial storages of carbon and, after coal and oil, the third-largest source of carbon emission.“

In May 2008 the William J. Clinton Foundation of the former US president and management consultants of McKinsey stressed the immense importance of reforestation projects for the protection of the climate: “Responding to climate change will require a major contribution to carbon mitigation from tropical forests […], we can conservatively assume that tropical forestation can and should produce at least 2.0 GtCO2e of annual abatement in 2030. […] Obtaining this level would require planting about 8 to 14 million hectares per year.” (FAO estimate: actual increase is only 75 000 hectares per year).

CO2-certificates stand for the highest quality:

CO2OL reforestation projects are looked after and managed on a long term basis, and are permanently monitored, according to strict standards. In order to ensure and document the quality and sustainability of our own forests, measures taken by CO2OL itself need to be distinguished from additional evaluations by independent certifiers like SGS or SmartWood / RainforestAlliance, which were preformed in regular intervals during the life span of a project, according to accepted standards.

All credits exclusively originate from a sustainable reforestation:

No Monocultures and social jobs for native workers. The people in Panama are also supposed to benefit from the reforestation projects. Permanent jobs are created and, in addition, endangered animal and plant species are given a new living environment in species-rich forests.
