Coffea Circulor [ About] [Strategy] [Photo Gallery]

About

Situated in Arendal, Norway, Coffea Circulor is working directly with farmers in Kenya and Uganda to ensure sustainability, transparency and empowerment of local farmers and the community. They collect samples from farmers and get coffeehouses in Scandinavia to test it. They see their suppliers and buyers as partners who are genuinely interested in coffee and prepared to ensure high quality at a fair price for everyone enjoying a good cup of coffee.

Coffea Circulor's mission is to carry out coffee trading on the principle of the triple bottom line - people, planet and profit. Their products include coffee from sustainable farming in Kenya and Uganda with full transparency for all partners involved.

Strategy

Coffea Circulor imports high quality coffee to Scandinavia. They take great respect in their transparency trading that tell great stories. They work directly with farmers in Kenya and Uganda to ensure sustainability, transparency and empowerment of local farmers and the community. They conform transparency in their efforts to inform and inspire their customers and employees on sharing climate neutral strategies. Moral and ethics are key roles in their business model, with efforts put into reducing environmental problems.

Coffea Circulor is quite confident that no one has so far had a trading approach where transparency is the key to building a successful business allowing consumers to directly be in contact and interact with farmers. Imagine yourself being in a coffee shop and exactly knowing where the coffee originates from. Even better - you can contact the farmer while having your cup of coffee in the coffee shop through Facebook and tell how him/ her how delicious the cup was that morning.

In regard to minimizing the environmental footprint, Coffea Circulor has analyzed their greenhouse emissions which originate from the following:

  • Travel
  • Packaging
  • Shipping
  • Marketing and Information Technology

In order to circumvent the potential problems they intend to find suitable clients and partners who share the same philosophy and intentions in regards to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Such as;

  • Travel planning and selecting greener means of transport where possible.
  • Collaborating with major package and shipping delivery companies  who make an effort to reduce their carbon emissions.
  • They have deployed electronic tools to replace the need for paper filing systems in regards to both accounting and marketing purposes. These details are handled by cloud computing which means instant access to all details online and there is no need to carry paper. Marketing material is sent electronically to clients and partners. Internal communication is strictly handled electronically and paperless desks are enforced.
  • Building a better framework for modern communication by sustaining farmers with capacity building programs to empower them with basic and extended knowledge of contemporary means of communication.
  • Coffea Circulor has started working on calculating the CO2 emissions linked to its coffee trade. They will also reduce the emissions and compensate any remaining issues. They believe it can help the coffee from the local farmers to offer that little bit extra. Communicating this to customers will make them feel more comfortable with the fact of knowing that they are doing what they can to stay as green as possible.
  • Coffea Circulor constantly reiterates its strategy to meet the continuous evolving market and environment demands.

In summary,

  • Profit is easy, Coffea Circulor wants to make an income for themselves and the farmers.
  • People, they also ensure they pay the farmers properly and support their life and work
  • Planet, is not so easy but climate neutrality is one way to get started.

Coffea Circulor will use the GHG protocol as a base. Calculate all the co2 emissions linked to the growing, harvesting and transporting the coffee all the way to its final customer and their own and buy qoutas.
