Strategy

Climate Partners

As members of the regional network Climate Partners in Agder, Norway, LOS works together with other partners on:

  • Development of products and services for tomorrow’s low carbon society
  • Inspiration, methods and tools for cutting greenhouse gas emissions • Influencing the policies and conditions for sustainable innovation
  • International networking and knowledge sharing through cooperation with UNEP through and the CN Net
  • Promotion of the partners and the Agder region locally, nationally and internationally • Environmental certification
  • Preparation of annual climate footprint reports following the international Greenhouse Gas Protocol
  • Preparation of annual action plans to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases Efforts to reduce emissions.

In 2010 LOS moved into a new building in Kristiansand. The new building is 100 per cent owned by the owner company. Agder Energi is one of Norway’s most energy efficient office building with an energy consumption of less than 80 KWh/m2/year. In addition, the building has efficient solutions to waste treatments, efficient printing solutions as well as videoconference services that reduces travelling considerably. They have started to buy electric cars to be used by employees for travel to meetings in the nearby region. They buy electricity from renewable resources.

Climate Neutrality

LOS became climate neutral in 2009. They are following the method described in UNEP’s guideline “Kick the Habit” with the following steps:

  1. Preparation of climate footprint that include direct emissions and electricity consumption (scope 1 and 2), as well as employee travel in official business (scope 3).
  2. Emission reductions
  3. Offset of remaining emissions through purchase of UN approved CERs.
  4. Repetition of the above on an annual basis.

In 2009, Los' climate footprint was calculated to 44,5 tons. Offset was purchased via co2-focus. See www.co2focus.com for more information.
