In their pursuit to achieve carbon neutrality for their own company, Medvind Produksjon has implemented several procedures. They are doing what they can to protect the environment, and are proactively working with their suppliers, vendors and clients in influencing them to do the same.
Strategy
Even though they are rather small — they believe they still can make a difference. Medvind Produksjon gained insightful advice from the climate management service company CO2focus. They assisted Medvind Produksjon in developing the necessary steps in order to reach carbon neutrality, and informed and raised awareness on the environment among the company´s employees.
Their main actions are:
1. Use public transport when possible
2. Utilizing bike messengers instead of messenger services using cars
3. Minimize the number of air flights and company travels by working digitally
4. Rent property instead of buying
5. Send invoices by mail
6. Turn off lights and electrical equipment when not in use after office hours
7. Recycling of separate waste
8. Print and distribute paper only when strictly necessary
9. Raise environmental awareness among our employees, clients, vendors and suppliers
10. Select environmentally committed suppliers and vendors
11. Encouraging the use of public transport
12. Offer climate neutral productions
For Medvind to reach carbon neutrality, they offset greenhouse gases emitted from their activities by reducing an equivalent amount of emissions someplace else. Medvind Produksjon is involved in a biomass based power project in Rajasthan, India.
CDM Project 0347 – Chambal biomass power plant, Rajasthan, India. The project consists in the implementation of a 7,5 MW biomass based power plant near Rangpur village in the Kota district in Rajasthan state. The plant produces clean renewable electricity based on local agricultural wastes such as soya husks and stalks, corncobs and bagasse. The nutritious ashes deriving from the combustion is returned to the farmers using it for fertilisation of new crops. The main purpose of the project is to provide renewable power to the state electrical grid and through this help reduce the ever-increasing demand for fossil fuel based power and the greenhouse gas emissions.
Besides constantly improving their own climate commitment, their main focus is to identify and work with vendors and suppliers that themselves are environmentally engaged. Over the past years, a noticeable larger amount of companies are taking the climate challenges seriously - every day, Medvind Produksjon finds it easer and easier to choose environmentally committed partners.
