Sequence Staffing – Fully Committed to Carbon Neutrality and Sustainability:
As the Premier Executive Search and Staffing firm in the Environmental field, Sequence isn’t just committed to building organizations that are addressing issues of Climate Change, Sustainability and Natural Resource Conservation and supporting those that battle global warming and resource depletion, we are dedicated to setting the standard ourselves. 100% renewable power:
As part of this effort, Sequence specifically relocated our Corporate Offices to Roseville, California. Boasting a progressive business environment with regards to energy, Sequence has partnered with the Roseville Electric (city run municipal utility that owns / operates the local Natural Gas Power Plant as well as several solar and other power generating sites) as a Green Power Partner. As a partner, the city purchases 100% of our power from wind and sun sources, rather than supplying us with non-renewable energy, essentially off-setting our entire carbon footprint for power related facilities consumption.
Beyond, striving to neutralize our footprint, we work consistently to ensure our business practices and operations are energy efficient. This includes use of ENERGYSTAR compliant appliances, reasonable use of power and implementation of energy conservation, building efficiency efforts (tinting windows, bulb replacement with high efficiency green friendly lights, etc.), and automation measures to lesson our energy usage.
Transportation and Travel Policies – Offsetting our Employees and Business Travel Footprint:
We recognize that employment commuting and business travel related emissions are some of most major contributors for us as individuals to global warming. Essentially, as an individual, ones entire yearly carbon footprint can often seem small in comparison to the results of the emissions generated from taking just one long-distance round trip airline flight.
Local Employee Commutes – Emphasis on Carpooling and Energy Efficient Transportation
With that in mind Sequence makes a strong effort to retain local employees and utilize local business partners with consideration of commute and travel to our corporate facilities. Some of our employees carpool, which allows us to bond as a company while at the same time contributing to environmental efforts. We also encourage all employees to whenever possible use energy efficient public or private transportation for business activities.
Offset of our Employees Travel Related Impacts
Currently, most of our employees live within very short distance of our corporate office; but to further mitigate that carbon impact, we calculate and then purchase offsets to neutralize emissions for their estimated in-office commute usage once per year.
We also calculate and offset emissions for all company employees with respect to major air and vehicle travel for their business related activities.
With regards to company vehicles and employee behavior with our in-house vehicle fleet and in performance of company duties and business activities on the company’s behalf:
- Company vehicles are checked and maintained routinely to maximize performance.
- Planning prior to commutes to and/or from work in order to avoid traffic congestion is encouraged to enables us to further reduce our wasteful gas emissions, while maximizing fuel efficiency. We also allow flexible schedules and appropriate telecommuting to achieve this goal.
- Avoiding heavy traffic zones and times which also enable us to drive smoothly and safely, prolonging the life of our vehicles and limiting fuel consumption.
- Driving defensively and cautiously, while staying at the posted speed limits, avoiding high, fuel-depleting speeds.
- Disengaging vehicles when not in use, so as not to burn costly fuel and emit wasteful gasses into the environment.
Offsetting Candidate Travel
We recognize that the travel for candidates we recruit and who are interviewing for positions or going through the hiring process with clients / partners at meetings we arrange often presents the most serious contribution to emissions and carbon impacts in our niche business. As the world continues to develop and rely more and more upon technology, excessive travel is often becoming less and less necessary for meetings. From video to teleconferencing, we work innovatively and with a mind towards reasonably limiting the necessity for emission generating travel when possible.
With specific consideration of candidate travel, we encourage our clients to offset the impacts of those they are flying to interviews or screening through one of several well recognized offset providers in their region. We also encourage the use of public and energy efficient transportation when those individuals undertake business travel.
