About

Sydsvenska Dagbladets AB is a media company that publishes newspapers. All of their newspapers are climate neutral.

Strategy

Sydsvenska Dagbladets AB is a participant of the Climate Neutral Enterprise – a climate program for companies that proactively strive to minimize their climate impact. The program is designed and developed by the climate and sustainability consultancy Respect. The climate program is based on six steps:

  1. Calculation of the company’s climate impact, according to the Greenhouse gas Protocol.
  2. Implementation of effective measures to reduce the emissions.
  3. The climate report is presented annually and audited externally.
  4. Remaining emissions are offset in international CDM (Clean Development Mechanism) projects. The projects result in reduced energy consumption or a shift to renewable energy sources in developing countries. The projects are based on the Kyoto Protocol and are controlled and certified by the United Nations. In addition to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, the projects lead to social benefits to the local community.
  5. Communication and dissemination of good practice.
  6. Annual follow-up and continuous improvement.
