Patrick McCully Director of the Berkeley, California-based International Rivers Network. IRN works to support communities around the world opposing destructive river development projects, and to promote sustainable and equitable freshwater management. He is author of Silenced Rivers: The Ecology and Politics of Large Dams, published by Zed Books (London) in 1996 (revised edition 2001). He is an editorial advisor for the International Journal on Water. He is a member of the board of EcoEquity, which promotes an international climate treaty based on equal per capita rights to the atmosphere.
