Good Practice Database - DDP calls for submissions
The fourth component of the DDP's Work Programme is 'facilitating exchange of ideas on good practice'. One of the means the DDP has taken to fulfill that role is to develop a web-based database for experiences and cases of 'good practice' and 'lessons learnt' as they relate to dams and their alternatives. The submissions can cover one or more specific components of an overall process or project.

It only takes a few minutes to submit information directly into our database goodpractice.php. A few submissions already exist on the DDP web-site as examples. A brief summary of your example, in English, is requested and you may attach related papers or articles, either in English or in their original languages. The seven WCD Strategic Priorities are used as a framework for the submissions database. For information on the WCD Strategic Priorities - see document.php?doc_id=185.

Posted examples will also be featured on the Dams and Development at the various issue based workshops planned in 2004 in order to further disseminate and share the experiences.

We encourage you to click on the good practice and lessons learnt web page from time to time as the database grows. The DDP intends to compile a report analysing the submissions in early 2004.

Your assistance in facilitating the exchange of information on important experiences to a wider audience is much appreciated. If you have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact the DDP.
