DDP had aim of improving decision-making, planning and management of dams and their alternatives. It was tasked with promoting multistakeholder dialogue to produce recommendations on policy and procedure and elaborating non-prescriptive practical tool to help decision-makers. Ultimately, efforts focused to a large extent on the strengthening of the policy, legal and regulatory frameworks to ensure that environmental and social issues are duly accounted for in order to attain sustainable outcomes.
Many developed and developing countries as well as international organisations of diverse nature dealing with dams and their alternatives have established or recommended policy frameworks and guidelines for planning and management of dams. DDP was committed to elaborate a comprehensive inventory of such policy/normative frameworks. This web-based survey aims at providing all organisations and stakeholders with the opportunity of providing input to the inventory while simultaneously accessing the information available in the database. DDP encourages you to review the inventory and warmly welcomes your contribution.
