Customs Enforcement Network of the World Customs Organisation (WCO)

Established in 1952 as the Customs Co-operation Council, the WCO is an independent intergovernmental body whose mission is to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of Customs administrations. As of January 2006, the WCO includes 169 Member States.

To facilitate cooperation in enforcement and in dissemination of information and intelligence, WCO established a Customs Enforcement Network (CEN). CEN is an Internet-based information system for data-exchange and communication between and among Customs services. CEN has three main elements: a database of seizures and offences (including analytical capacity regarding modus operandi, trends, concealment methods, routes, etc.), a web site, and a communication system.
