Regional Biodiversity Strategy for the Tropical Andean States

To assist in implementing the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) in the Andean region, the five Member States of the Andean Community (Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela) adopted a Regional Biodiversity Strategy for the Tropical Andean States. The Strategy sets forth approaches for collaboratively conserving and sustainably using ecosystems, species, and genetic resources; equitable sharing of benefits; protection and nurturing of traditional knowledge; development of scientific knowledge, innovations, and technologies to conserve and sustainably use biodiversity; integrate biodiversity conservation into sectoral policies and development projects, and strengthening of international negotiation capabilities.
