Preparing National Reports on Implementing MEAs in Ivory Coast

In the Ivory Coast, MEA implementation is done in dialogue with all the stakeholders interested in the objectives of the MEA. For example, implementation of the Rotterdam Convention on chemicals requiring prior informed consent (PIC) is led by the Ministry in charge of the environment in collaboration with the Ministries for Agriculture, Industry and Trade, consumers’ associations, etc.

Generally, national reports on specific MEAs are prepared within the context of implementing projects relating to the MEA. The reports are submitted regularly to the executing institution, which transmits it to the relevant MEA Secretariat. An annual report on the implementation in Ivory Coast of all MEAs is produced and submitted to the Commission on Sustainable Development (CSD), which is held each year in New York.
