The National Enforcement Training Institute (NETI) of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) provides training for national, sub-national (state, county, and local government), and tribal enforcement personnel, including attorneys, inspectors, technical staff, investigators and police. NETI offers literally dozens of classes on a wide range of topics that involve assuring compliance with pollution-control requirements. Courses are provided in classrooms and by alternative methods such as video, CD-ROM, or Internet. Most courses are from one to five days in length, although certain courses may last for months.
English-speaking officials of foreign environmental enforcement agencies are welcome to participate without charge for tuition or course materials. (However, this training is very USEPA-specific, and officials from outside the United States may want to refer to text accompanying Guideline 49(d)
for information on USEPA’s enforcement capacity building and training designed for international audiences.)
The schedule of NETI courses may be reviewed at http://www.netionline.com where one also may register for any course.
