The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) carries out a wide range of training courses on environmental law. These include national and regional workshops for governmental officials and professionals, as well as seminars for magistrates.
UNITAR’s Distance Learning Course on International Environmental Law is designed to reach a large number of people working for Governments and NGOs, as well as professionals and students from the academic and research institutions in States throughout the world. Special attention is given to developing countries and countries with economies in transition. The topics cover the basics of international environmental law, including:

The distance learning course consists of a series of 10 course books on these topics. The authors of the course books are international experts and serve as faculty for the training course. The course is available in English, French, and Spanish (e-version). A number of universities in Africa, South America, and Europe recognise the quality of education of these distance learning courses by granting college credits for completing the course.
