1. What is the Basic Structure of the Online Manual?
The Web-based Manual is divided into four main sections: About, Compliance, Enforcement, and Resources.
The Site also provides “User Portals” to direct specific audiences to the most relevant content.
2. How does the Main Navigation Work?
The primary navigation for the online Manual is provided on the left side of your screen.
The navigation provides access to each of the four main sections of the Manual: About, Compliance, Enforcement, and Resources and allows users to return to the Manual home page.
The left navigation expands and contracts to illustrate the user’s location within the structure of the site.
Breadcrumbs
Breadcrumbs appear at the top of the main content of each page to provide additional guidance to the user on his or her location within the Manual.

3. What are the Key Features of online Manual page layout?
The main content of each page is divided into two columns.
The first column provides the number and text of the Guideline being described and its explanatory text. In some instances, an excerpt of the Guideline is provided. The user should click the “TEXT TEXT TEXT” link to access the full content of the Guideline.
Within the explanatory text, links are provided to cross-references to related material in other parts of the Manual. Within the explanatory text, acronyms and glossary terms are depicted with a dashed underline. Clicking on these links will open a new browser window with the definition of the term. Links to external sources may also appear in the explanatory text.

The explanatory text to a Guideline may be more than the initial page. The length of each section is indicated beside the section title (in the example below “page 1/2"). The section may be navigated using the “Next Page” link at the bottom of the explanatory text.
The second column presents the case studies, additional resources, and checklists which accompany the explanatory text and may be used for further reference. Not every Guideline will have each of the three types of resources, and some Guidelines do not have any related resources.
4. How can I search the online Manual?
The online Manual is set up to allow users to search the full text of the guidelines, explanatory text, case studies, additional resources, and checklists using any search term of their choice.
Specific search tools are also provided so users may just search the Guideline text, the Case Studies text, or the Glossary.
A Search tool for the entire UNEP website is also provided at the top right of each page.
