Conference on Space Technologies and Applications for Wildlife Management and Protecting Biodiversity

To address the growing demand for space-based information and space technologies such as Earth Observation of satellite positioning for biodiversity monitoring and wildlife management, in particular. As a first workshop on these topics in Africa, a special session might also address specificities of coastal ecosystems observations. Interests of the host Government, UNEP and other international organizations will be considered in setting the agenda, with international experts drawn from pools such as the Conservation Remote Sensing group. Recent advancements in this domain will be presented, and specific needs in Africa will be identified for further action in better applying benefits of space technologies in the biodiversity domain.


Celebrating World Environment Day, UN Environment Programme and Georgetown University Launch Law Fellowship 
Washington D.C., 3 June 2016 - In the lead up to World Environment Day, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and Georgetown University Law Center have announced a new fellowship for environmental lawyers practicing in the public sector (ministries or the judiciary) in developing countries. The UNEP- Georgetown Law Center Global Environment & Sustainability Law Fellows Program will provide the opportunity to earn a Masters of Law Degree (LL.M.) in Environmental Law and strengthen the environmental capacity of lawyers globally. - See more
