ENVIRONMENTAL RULE OF LAW
Deputy Chief Justice of Egypt
Mr. Adel Omar Sherif has been Deputy Chief Justice of the Supreme Constitutional Court of Egypt since 2002 and a Distinguished Visiting Professor of Law at Dedman School of Law, Southern Methodist University, Dallas, Texas, USA. In 2005, the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan awarded Justice Sherif the Medal of the Constitution of Kazakhstan and in 2007, the Ateneo de Davao University in the Philippines conferred upon Justice Sherif an honorary doctorate degree in laws.
He is a member of the Judicial Group on Strengthen Judicial Integrity, which developed the Bangalore Principles of Judicial Conduct; Judicial Advisory Board to the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP); Board of the International Advisers to the International Judicial Academy in Washington DC and United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights’ Judicial Reference Group among others. He holds law degrees, including LL.B.; Advanced Studies Diploma in Public Law; Advanced Studies Diploma in Administrative Law and Ph.D. in Constitutional Law from Cairo and Ain Shams Universities in Egypt.
