Mr. Zakri Bin Abdul Hami

Professor USM Chancellery Chair – Science and Sustainable Development Science Advisor to Prime Minister of Malaysia

Dr. Zakri is the Director of Centre for Global Sustainability Studies at USM (on leave, National Science Advisor, Prime Minister's Office, Putrajaya) and the former Director of the Institute of Advanced Studies - Nations University (UNU-IAS) in Japan from 2001–2008.

He was the Co-Chair of the Millennium Ecosystem Assessment Board (2001-2005), and the Vice-President of the Academy of Sciences of the Developing World (TWAS); member of the Board of Trustees of the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES); member of the Arab Fund Fellowship Program, expert member of the FAO/ CGIAR 1st External Review (2007) of the Harvest Plus Challenge Program and member of the IAEA Senior Advisory Group on Technical Assistance and Cooperation from 2008.

He is a fellow of the Academy of Sciences Malaysia, Academy of Sciences of the Developing World, World Academy of Art and Science and the Islamic World Academy of Sciences.
